| Drug Indication | Treatment of bleeding esophageal varices, treatment of cystic lesions (including testicular hydroceles, spermatoceles, and renal cysts). |
| Contra-Indications | Patients allergic to oleic acid, or morrhuate sodium may be allergic to ethanolamine oleate; pregnancy. |
| Side Effects | Portal gastropathy may develop following endoscopic injection sclerotherapy of esophageal varices; esophageal stricture; pneumonia, allergic reactions; CNS infections; disseminated intravascular coagulation; esophageal perforation; aspiration pneumonia; portal vein thrombosis; renal failure, acute; spinal cord paralysis; chest pain; dysphagia; fever; abnormal chest x-rays, including pulmonary infiltrates and pleural effusions; esophageal ulceration. |
